Did you know that the Trump administration is considering 100 percent tariffs on wines from Europe? If they go into effect, the tariffs may not only increase the price and availability of European wines, but jeopardize American businesses in and associated with the wine industry.
A recent NY Times article explains that, starting with importers, “an entire chain of businesses are built around the acquisition and sale of European wines and foods, from distributors to retail shops and restaurants, and all the associated workers — not to mention dock labor, forklift drivers and others.” Furthermore, as the global distribution of European wines changes, “… Americans will be drinking differently.” We at La Petite Cave are following these developments, and will do our best to continue to provide a selection of affordable, high-quality wines from around the world.
